Getting Teenagers to Cooperate
There are many different views on how parent a teenager, lots of parents experience their teenagers becoming less cooperative during the teenage years, for example would you ever find your teenager refusing to do as they are asked, or that they answer you back?? Parents can find this upsetting & this can lead to lots of arguments between parents & teenagers, or do you feel that you lost control of your teenager behaviour. It is normal for teenagers to want to develop their own ideas & become more independent as they become young adults. Outside influences also start to play a more important role in their lives, such as their friends, social media, etc. When you have a good relationship with your teenager, they are more likely to co-operate with you/do as you ask. Teenagers still need limits & boundaries, parents may need to change their approach, you as a parent need to develop your own ways of dealing with your teenager’s behaviour. Teen Triple P has been helpful for many parents and may give useful ideas to help you meet the challenges of raising teenagers
